Let me go gently
if you must
for I will always
keep a place for you
deep in my heart
I would that it not
this parting of our hearts
but if it must be
then let it be gently
as soft as our kisses
as gentle as your smile
as tender as our words
let love linger a while
for partings are sad
no matter how disguised
we always regret
having to part from love
even when we know
it to be best
so if we must
let it be gently.
